Contaminated Water Crisis

VICTORIA (CP) - The B.C. government will push the federal government to clean up water problems in First Nations communities, the province's aboriginal relations and reconciliation minister said Wednesday.

A tiny aboriginal community on northern Vancouver Island has been drinking bottled water for years after its water system broke down nine years ago and has yet to be repaired, Tom Christensen said outside a cabinet meeting.

Less than 50 members of the Kwicksutaineuk Band on Guilford Island, located about 450 kilometres north of Victoria, are living in mould-infested homes and drink only bottled water.

The Assembly of First Nations declared the community a disaster area last year.

Christensen said the quality of water and the homes people live in on some B.C. aboriginal reserves is shameful.

The federal government is responsible for water quality and housing on reserves.

"We're going to push the federal government to move as quickly as possible in addressing the water situation that exists on different reserves," Christensen said. "We're going to demand that they act."

He said he will lobby for water and housing improvements for aboriginals when Canada's First Ministers meet in Kelowna later this month.

The federal government recently evacuated members of the Kashechewan reserve in Northern Ontario because the community's water was tainted.

Last night was the scariest, nastiest most horrible, most terrible night there was a big, humungo, (as Flander always says) heydidingley explosion I've ever seen or heard (I haven't seen an actual explosion before) i was so terrified. I though there were terrerists and thought binladen was on my door steps. It wasn't to funny when i heard the knocking. Then it happend I got hit on the head and died. Then the others threw me outside and ten i don't remeber anything. -sad tune in backround- im writing this message in the hospital at the moment and i have no pity t myself i stinck like tatti in other words poo. Last week i went to personification lake quite scary there. The sky sudenly turned black i thought it was just clouds, but they were somthing else i got so scared. We are deeply upset to inform you that both the title of upcoming Book the Twelfth in A Series of Unfortunate Events and Mr. Snicket himself have been reported missing, unknown, or both. With the book's publication scheduled for October 18th, 2005, the situation is dire.

Alarmingly, the public's help is now required to uncover important details regarding Mr. Snicket's new book before it is too late. I Used To Believe

When I was little I used to believe in many things what can I say I was a messed up child wait wat am I saying I still am anyways here are some stuff I used to believe when I was little,

I use to believe that If I could completely cover every inch of my body with the blanket at bedtime that it would create a magical force field that would keep monsters out. I would spend about 10 minutes a night trying to tuck in any little holes in my force field and then I was scared to move an inch lest I create a monster hole. Man it got hot in there.

When i was little, my cousin (about 4 yrs older than me) told me that if you swallowed toothpaste you would die, so whenever my mom told me to brush my teeth i would just go in the bathroom an wet my toothbrush cause i was afraid the toothpaste might slide down my throat somehow.

When I was young, I used to believe that everything has feelings. So when my brother has touched soap bubbles I cried: "Don't hurt them!".

This was when i slept with my mother instead of my own bed, and my little sister would always join us...Well, i had a phobia of sleeping on the outside of the bed which was closest to the door. So i'd make sure every night i'd sleep in the corner of fear that a monster or beast would appear and gobble the first his closest victim...So sadly, i was allowing my mother and little sister to be eaten before myself.

I sometimes look at the ingredients of things when im bored. one day when i was young i was reading the ingredients of Smarties. One ingredient said 'carnouba wax' or something. i thought it was wax that was used to wax cars! so i never ate them til i figured out that it was just the stuff that makes a shiny cover around each smartie.
